If you have been following us, you know that we are having a bit of a problem sleeping. Our excellent sleepers have disappeared only to be replaced by children who act more like 6 week olds than 4 month olds. Poor Greg last night got all of 2-3 hours of sleep. Mom doesn't help matters much because she is also tired of being up every hour to tend to one baby or another.
There is actually a term for this and apparently a lot of four month olds go through it. Sleep regression, formally excellent sleepers stop sleeping for more than 3 hours (or less) at a time. They stop napping and generally become big stinkers. Of course it seems even more problematic because Mom and Dad are both back at work. We are definitely going to have to come up with a plan on how to handle it. Of course a common suggestion is to start cereal. Miles is ready, so we are giving it a try. Camden is not quiet as open to it. I am really trying to bolster my milk production, Miles also seems to need some additional formula at night. I think exclusive breast feeding is coming to an end. It hasn't helped as of yet. Theories are it is an intellectual developmental thing (like rolling over is a physical developmental thing) and when they reach the milestone they will start to sleep again. Of course, there are other milestones to be met in the future.
So keep us in your thoughts...
